News Archives2010January Enthronement of the Grand Master 28th - Most Wor Bro Bernice Abram was enthroned as Grand Master of the HFAF by Most Wor Past Grand Master Sheila Norden at a very impressive ceremony held at the Regents Park Marriot Hotel, Swiss Cottage. Brethren from all the various lodges both here in the UK and overseas came together to celebrate this new chapter in our history. See our special report February Twelve Romanian Fellowcraft were Raised to the Third Degree over a period of two days. June Two of our Romanian Enterered Apprentices were Passed to the Second Degree. August/September A candidate from New Delhi, India came over to be Initiated into Regency Lodge no 40. She was then Passed to the Second Degree in September. October Three more Romanian women were Initiated into Ambassadors Lodge no 13. November The annual Bazaar and Open Day was held on November 28th. December At the Quarterly Comunications on December 9th, the Most Worshipful Grand Master, Bernice Abram was delighted to report to the brethren that the mortgage on our new home had been paid off completely. It was announced that there will be a special celebration on 30th June 2013 at the Grand Temple, Freemasons' Hall, Great Queen Street, London, WC2B 5AZ to commemorate our 100th year.
2009 November A very successful Open Day was held on 22nd November when more than £3000 was raised. Twelve of our Romanian Initiates were passed to the Second Degree at a meeting of Ambassadors Lodge no 13 on 26th November 2009 October On 15th October the results of the ballot for our next Grand Master were declared at the Quarterly Communications of Grand Lodge. RW Bro Bernice Abram, AGM was the succesful candidate and will be Enthroned on 28 January 2010. Another eight candidates from Romania were Initiated into Ambassadors Lodge no 13 on 1st October 2009 June Six candidates from Romania were Initiated at a meeting of Ambassadors Lodge no.13 on June 2nd.More are to follow and it is hoped to eventually consecrate a lodge which will meet in Bucharest, Romania. May The two candidates for the ballot for the Grand Mastership are R W Bro Bernice Abram, AGM and RW Bro Margaret Clarke, SGW. The result of the ballot will be announced at the Quarterly Communications of Grand Lodge in October.The Enthronement ceremony of the new Grand Master will be on January 28th 2010. March The Memorial Service for the late Deputy Grand Master Denise Granatt and Past Grand Master Suzanne Berman was held on 16th March. It was a very sad day for all concerned but their lives and actions were remembered with gratitude by the members of HFAF February The Chapter of the Holy Sepulchre no 6 was consecrated on February 19th by the MW Grand Master Sheila Norden. This Chapter meets at Rochford, Essex.The first Principal of the Chapter is V W Bro Liz Saunders After the completion of the building work the Temple at 402 was consecrated on February 5th by the MW Grand Master Sheila Norden and the newly re-furbished dining-room was renamed the Corinthian Dining Room in recognition of the generous donation received from Corinthian Lodge no. 8. 2008 The Most Worshipful Grand Master, Sheila Norden has given permission for a new Royal Arch Chapter to be formed in 2009 which will meet at Rochford, Essex. Women and Freemasonry - The Centenary. HFAF are participating in this exhibition celebrating 100 years of women's freemasonry in the UK. We have lent several items from our archives for this event. Click on the above link to see some pictures from the preview. An official reception for members of HFAF and guests was held at GQS Museum and Library on November 26th. Sussex Lodge no 17 is now meeting at Lewes masonic temple. See venue page for pictures. An Open Day was held on Saturday 16th August 2008 which was attended by more than 50 visitors. Charity Please look on our Charity page for news of our Charity work Bridge Classes A new session of our very successful Bridge Class began on October 27th. Most Mondays from 11am to 2pm, the cost per session is £8, which includes refreshments. If you would like to attend please contact the Grand Secretary for further details info@hfaf.org 2007 Public Relations There was an interview with our Grand Master, the Most Worshipful Bro Sheila Norden in the March issue of Freemasonry Today. There was also an interview in the Edgware Times of 22nd February 2007, written by Caron Kemp, view pdf copy. Building Fund Plans are made to enlarge the premises at 402 Finchley Road Lodge News Costa Blanca Lodge of Tranquility was delighted that Most Wor Bro Sheila Norden, the Most Wor Grand Master was for the first time able to attend their Installation meeting and social evening in October. 2006 Enthronement of the Grand MasterMost Worshipful Bro Sheila Norden was enthroned as Grand Master on 26th January 2006 . It was a wonderful day for all concerned. The ceremony was attended by members of all our Lodges and a wonderful day was enjoyed culminating in a magnificent banquet in the evening. In Memoriam Most Wor Past Grand Master - Evelyne Barclay A very moving Memorial Service was held at 402 Finchley Road on Thursday 19th October in loving memory of our Past Grand Master Most Wor Bro Evelyne Barclay. HFAF Charity Our charity was the recipient of £43,117 from the estate of Rt Wor Bro Edith Saunders which enabled us to make a large donation to Teenage Cancer Trust for the purpose of fully equipping a room with everything needed for chemotherapy and radiotherapy treatments and pain relief. So allowing a patient to receive and entertain visitors whilst receiving treatment. 2005 HFAF - The Search for new HQ Our search for a new Headquarters was successful and we have now purchased a building in NW London. The building is already in use for meetings and on 20th November 2005, the building was officially opened by the well known actor Robert Powell and his wife Babs, and the mayor of Barnet and on behalf of our Charity received a cheque for £150,000 representing the amount which HFAF had raised for charity in the last ten years.
