ENTHRONEMENT 2010
There was much excitement at the Marriott Hotel in Swiss
Cottage, North-West London on 28th January 2010 when more than 200 members of
the HFAF, (Honourable Fraternity of Ancient Freemasons), gathered together from
all over England and the Isle of Man, Spain, Gibraltar and Romania for the
Enthronement of their MWGM elect, Rt Wor Bro Bernice Abram, Asst GM, by MWGM
Sheila Norden. The normal dress code being relaxed for this special occasion,
full evening dress was the order of the day.
After the Grand Lodge was opened in ample form, the GM
elect entered the
Temple
to the choir singing the 24th Psalm and a Grand Master’s musical salute of
descending peals on the tubular bells.
Most Wor Bro Sheila Norden then proceeded to enthrone her successor
according to ancient custom. Following her enthronement and salutations from all
the brethren, Most Wor Bro Bernice Abram was presented with the three great
lights in freemasonry; the VSL, the S & C. She then duly appointed RW Bro
Margaret Clarke as her Deputy GM and RW Bro
Christine Chapman
as her Assistant GM who, after taking their obligations were seated and
received the salutations of their respective offices.
This was followed by a presentation of the working tools and emblems of
the various degrees worked by the HFAF. The new Grand Master then proceeded to
appoint and invest her Grand Lodge officers.
At the end of the ceremony, the Grand Lodge was closed and all brethren
processed out.
The day was rounded off by a magnificent Enthronement
Banquet, where the speeches to the three new GMs included a CV of their
respective Masonic careers and it was easy to see why these three dedicated
women freemasons should now head this women’s fraternity.
Over £1,000 was raised at a raffle during the evening,
which was thankfully received and will be faithfully applied. A special charity
appeal to mark the HFAF centenary in 2013 has already been set up which will
support the Teenage Cancer Trust.
The day was thoroughly enjoyed by all who attended, and one brother, who
was attending her first enthronement ceremony was heard to remark “it was a
privilege to be here”.
The HFAF elect their Grand Masters for a term of four years and like the
President of the
USA
they can only serve a maximum of two terms .
All the brethren of the HFAF are united in wishing the new GM, Bernice
Abram a happy and healthy reign.
